Thailand's industrial output edged down in October as U.S. trade measures continued to pressure local industrial and processed agriculture sectors amid a decline in foreign tourist arrivals, official data showed on Friday.

The Southeast Asian country's manufacturing production index (MPI) contracted 0.08 percent last month compared to a year earlier, reversing from a revised 1.19 percent increase in September, according to the Ministry of Industry.

Despite the downtick, automobile production saw an ongoing expansion, driven by rising domestic sales of electric vehicles, while industrial exports grew for 16 months in a row, said Supakit Boonsiri, director general of the ministry's Office of Industrial Economics.

The government's economic stimulus measures have also helped ease the cost-of-living burden and reduce expenses for both households and the industrial sector, Supakit told a news conference.

For the first 10 months of 2025, the MPI shrank by 0.80 percent year over year, he said.

The ministry revised its MPI forecast to a 0.75 percent decline this year, down from a growth rate of 0 to 0.5 percent projected earlier.
