Vietnam's southern economic hub, Ho Chi Minh City, received nearly 8 billion U.S. dollars in remittances in the first nine months of 2025, up 6.25 percent year-on-year, the Vietnam News Agency reported Friday.
The steady inflows have helped stabilize the foreign exchange market and provided a strong boost to the city's economic growth despite global headwinds, according to the state media.
According to the report, remittances sent to Ho Chi Minh City reached 2.737 billion dollars in the third quarter alone, slightly lower than the previous quarter but up 18 percent from the same period last year.
Asia remained the largest source of remittances, accounting for 50.4 percent of the total, followed by the Americas with 30.2 percent, the report added.
