Vietnam's gross domestic product (GDP) growth this year could surpass 8 percent as targeted by the National Assembly if there are no major fluctuations, Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said Friday, local media VNExpress reported.

Speaking at the plenary session of the Vietnam Private Economic Landscape Program 2025, Chinh said the strong growth momentum in the first nine months has created favorable conditions for the country to achieve its annual target.

Vietnam's GDP expanded 8.2 percent in the third quarter, bringing nine-month growth to 7.85 percent, according to the National Statistics Office, which estimated that fourth-quarter GDP needs to grow 8.4 percent for the country to hit the full-year goal.

Chinh urged the private sector to enhance innovation, digital transformation and green growth, aligning business development with national goals of becoming a high-income country by 2045.
