A tour guide training course was held in northern Laos' Luang Prabang province to enhance the skills of 96 provincial tourism officials in support of the province's socio-economic development and tourism improvement efforts.
The training, running from July 7 to 31, covers essential topics including tourism fundamentals, first aid, tourism laws and management, guiding techniques, cultural traditions and Buddhism, local heritage, tourist safety, communication skills, and problem-solving.
Participants will also learn about Luang Prabang's world heritage status and the history of its key attractions, Lao National Radio reported on Monday.
The program features lectures from specialists, practical exercises, and a final exam to evaluate participants' knowledge.
Luang Prabang province has unveiled its 2025-2030 socio-economic development plan, focusing on tourism, agriculture, and logistics to build a strong, self-sufficient economy. Central to this strategy is the preservation of its world heritage status, which is vital to all sectors.
The province is hoping to attract at least 2.3 million visitors in 2025, targeting more than 1.2 billion U.S. dollars in revenue.
Luang Prabang province, some 220 km north of the Lao capital Vientiane, is one of the most well-known provinces in Laos and a top tourist destination for its old temples, scenic attractions and rural landscapes.
