Laos' trade volume exceeds 1.7 bln USD in March

The combined trade volume of Laos' imports and exports amounted to 1.73 billion U.S. dollars in March, according to a report from the Lao Trade Portal website on Monday.

The value of exports in March was recorded at 945 million dollars with imports at 785 million dollars, resulting in a trade surplus of 160 million dollars, said the report.

Laos' main export products included electrical appliance and equipment, cassava, mixed and bar gold, potassium salt, copper ore, paper and paper products, rubber, banana, cassava starch, and wood pulp and paper waste.

The country's main imports included diesel fuel, instant mixed chemical products, land vehicles, mechanical equipment, iron and steel equipment, electrical and electronic equipment, plastic equipment, fertilizer, sugar, and farm tractors.

Thailand, China, and Vietnam are among the leading export destinations for Lao products. Meanwhile, they are also the main importers of Laos' products.
