Officials from Laos and Thailand reviewed progress of border cooperation and discussed strategies to strengthen relations, focusing on improvements in diplomatic and security efforts to address border security challenges and ensure peace.
According to a report from the Lao People's Army News on Friday, representatives from both countries gathered for the first meeting of the Subcommittee on Lao-Thai Border Cooperation for Peace and Security, held in the southern Laos' Champasak province from Tuesday to Friday.
During the meeting, both sides agreed to continue strengthening cooperation to maintain peace and order along the border, including increased information exchange, enhanced border management, and necessary legal measures to combat smuggling, illegal labor, human trafficking, drug trafficking, and transnational crimes.
