Vietnam's consumer price index (CPI) in February went up by 2.91 percent year on year, the General Statistics Office said on Thursday.

The index increased by 0.34 percent compared to the previous month, said the report.

Price hikes last month were reported in nine out of the 11 items in the calculation basket.

According to the office, the primary causes of last month's CPI increase were the rise in pork prices due to a supply shortage, and the surging costs of dining out, house rental and transportation services after consumer demand spiked during the Lunar New Year holiday.

The CPI in the first two months of 2025 averagely increased by 3.27 percent year on year while inflation rose 2.97 percent over the same period last year, said the office.
