People had great fun during the Thingyan festival, or the water festival, in Yangon, Myanmar, marking the start of Myanmar New Year.

People celebrate it by throwing water at each other to drive out bad luck and bring health and happiness. Placing Atar pots in front of the house is also a feature of the festival to welcome Tha Kyar Min, the King of the Celestials.

The festival usually occurs in middle of April and lasts four to five days. It starts on April 13 this year.
