Nyein Chan Paing, a 10th grader, said that he was very happy as his school received sport equipment donated by Chinese organizations.

"The Chinese-donated sport equipment included those for volleyball, football, caneball and badminton. I'm extremely happy. It is difficult for our parents to purchase such sport equipment," the student from a high school in Nay Pyi Taw told Xinhua on Wednesday.

"I have already completed a volleyball course, and I'm also interested in playing badminton," he said. "Sport activities support our health as well as our physical fitness," he added.

"I'm grateful to the Chinese organizations for their donations," he said.

Han Thaw Zin, another 10th grader, said that she is interested in playing badminton. "I'm happy as we now have the sport equipment," she said.

The donations highlight the bilateral friendship between Myanmar and China, she said, adding that such donations, including the donation of stationery, will help reduce the dropout rate of the school.

"By getting more sport equipment, the standard of the sport events in our school will improve. The sport equipment will facilitate the students to practice," she added.

The China Foundation for Peace and Development (CFPD) donated sport equipment to five basic education schools in Nay Pyi Taw, capital of Myanmar, on Wednesday.

In partnership with the Myanmar Chinese Cooperation and Communication Center, the CFPD made the donations as part of the Silk Road People-to-People Connectivity Care for the Future program.

Daw San San, headmistress of a basic education high school that received the donation, expressed gratitude to the Chinese organizations for the donation, noting that the donation would help promote the physical, intellectual and cognitive development of the students.
