Xinhua, March 23, 2024

Laos' northern Huaphan province and Vietnam's northern Son La province coordinated to organize a cultural festival, showcasing the beauty of tourist attractions in the provinces and rich cultures of various ethnic groups in Huaphan province.

The festival was part of a joint tourism promotion plan of the two provinces and a contribution to Visit Laos Year 2024, according to the Lao Ministry of Industry and Commerce on Friday.

The event was an opportunity for domestic and foreign visitors to explore the areas' stunning scenery, local lifestyles, and histories of the two provinces.

It was also an opportunity for tourism-related businesses to improve the quality of their products and services and a chance to conserve and promote cultural identity.

Visitors enjoyed cultural shows that extol the glories of the areas' traditional customs and lifestyle, including traditional dances, a photographic exhibition, and food items that represent the quintessence of Huaphan cuisine.

The festival began on Thursday and will end on Saturday in Huaphan province, some 310 km northeast of the Lao capital Vientiane.
