Preparations for China's Spring Festival in Myanmar's Yangon City are in full swing with grand decorations in gold and red colors seen around the Chinatown of Yangon.

In Chinese culture, red symbolizes fire, good fortune and joy. It is the color of happiness, used strictly for celebrations. Unsurprisingly, gold symbolizes wealth and prosperity. Together, they are used to spread the message of good fortune and prosperity for everyone in the coming new year.

The Spring Festival, falling on Feb. 10 to kick off the Year of the Dragon, has been officially listed as a UN Floating Holiday in the UN Calendar of Conferences and Meetings starting from 2024.
