Thailand is working to boost exports of agricultural and processed food products to other Lancang-Mekong Cooperation (LMC) countries, in an effort to increase business stability and income for farmers, a Thai official said on Friday.

The sixth Lancang-Mekong Business Forum took place in Beijing last week. The forum brought together entrepreneurs from Thailand and other LMC countries to discuss ways to develop agricultural and processed food product markets, Thai government spokesman Chai Wacharonke said.

The LMC consists of six countries, namely China, Cambodia, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand and Vietnam.

The Thai government is committed to promoting cooperation among the LMC member countries to expand networks of businesses as well as foster social, scientific and technological exchanges in the region, Chai said in a statement.

Cooperation within the LMC framework will provide opportunities to upgrade the products. The exchange of knowledge, innovations and the expansion of networks will help create stable and sustainable income, improve the lives of farmers and benefit the people, Chai quoted Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin as saying.
