Laos and Vietnam will enhance coordination and mutual support in multilateral people-to-people diplomatic activities, particularly within the framework of the World Peace Council.

According to a report issued on Wednesday by the Committee for External Relations of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, a delegation of the Vietnam Peace Committee led by its Chairman Uong Chu Luu paid a working visit to Laos from Aug. 19 to Aug. 22, at the invitation of Vice President of the National Assembly of Laos and Chairman of the Lao Committee for Peace and Solidarity, Sommad Pholsena.

In a meeting with Lao National Assembly President Xaysomphone Phomvihane on Tuesday, Uong Chu Luu emphasized that Vietnam always highly values the great assistance of the Lao counterparts for Vietnam in its struggle for national independence and liberation in the past, as well as in the national construction and defense at present.

For his part, Xaysomphone affirmed the Vietnamese delegation's visit and cooperation between the two committees will contribute to further promoting and deepening the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between the two parties, states, and peoples.

Both sides emphasized the significance of people-to-people exchanges and the need to strengthen education of tradition and peace for young people, according to the report.
