The Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Dali Marathon 2023 was held in Dali, Yunnan province, on May 20.
With the theme "Run for Love," the event drew more than 12,000 runners from all Lancang-Mekong countries, the United States, France, Canada and Australia.
Participants expressed that the marathon allowed them to immerse themselves in Dali's rich history and culture, observe the area's diverse biological resources and economic progress, and endorse a green, environmentally friendly and healthy lifestyle.
They added that these factors would help realize the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. Additionally, they hoped that the Dali marathon would serve as a conduit for promoting cultural exchanges and strengthening friendships among people in the region.
