The Lancang-Mekong Cooperation (LMC) Week in Yunnan 2023 kicked off on March 23, highlighting the achievements and unique aspects of the cooperation mechanism.

The event included 11 activities, including a youth challenge competition in Lijiang, a symposium on post-COVID-19 development, a youth dialogue, and a photography and short video competition.

Throughout the year, 35 activities related to LMC will be launched in Yunnan province.

These activities are projected to enhance cooperation in areas like policy coordination, connectivity of infrastructure, unimpeded trade, financial integration, and closer people-to-people ties across the Lancang-Mekong region. These efforts aim to boost Yunnan’s contribution to the region’s common development.

Initiated in 2016, the LMC mechanism has brought tangible benefits to the people of the region. Last year, Yunnan's trade with the other five countries under the cooperation framework— Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam— totaled $14.8 billion. Significantly, trade with Cambodia, Laos, and Thailand saw double-digit growth.
