The 2022 Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Summit for Agriculture, Agricultural Materials, Economy and Trade was held in Beijing on Dec. 15.

With the theme of "enhancing industrial development capability and advancing Lancang-Mekong win-win cooperation," the event was hosted by the All-China Federation of Supply and Marketing Cooperatives (ACFSMC).

Hou Shunli, member of the Leading Party Members Group and deputy director of the council of the ACFSMC, said that China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, especially Mekong countries, should continuously tap cooperation potential, expand cooperation in agriculture and agricultural materials and resources, further upgrade the quality and level of cooperation, and boost economic development and modernization of agriculture and agricultural resources in the Lancang-Mekong countries.

Hou proposed that more concerted efforts should be made in the following three aspects: first, to deepen agricultural cooperation, ensure regional food security, improve the stability of industrial and supply chains, and lay a solid foundation for regional food security; second, to share new opportunities, upgrade regional trade in agriculture and agricultural materials, and inject new impetus into regional economic prosperity and people's well-being; third, to consistently boost regional people-to-people exchanges and cooperation.

At the summit, a short video project, "Lancang-Mekong agricultural lecture, " funded by the China-ASEAN Chamber of Agricultural Commerce, was also launched to showcase the current situation and achievements in agriculture, agricultural materials, and economic and trade development in the Lancang-Mekong countries to further contribute to regional cooperation and exchanges.
