The opening ceremony of the Seminar on the Construction of Industrial Park for Myanmar was held online Dec. 7, 2021.

Thirty students from Myanmar's ministries and special economic zones attended the ceremony. The seminar was hosted by China's Ministry of Commerce and undertaken by Tianjin TEDA Group.

Tan Shufu, economic and commercial counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar, said that industrial parks serve as an engine of regional economic structure adjustment, urbanization, and industrialization. There are many special economic zones and industrial parks in Myanmar, all of which will play a significant role in creating jobs and driving economic growth.

According to Tan, Chinese companies have participated or are participating in the construction of industrial parks throughout Myanmar, providing nearly 500,000 jobs.

Tan said that by organizing the seminar, China wants to share its experience in planning, constructing and managing economic parks. He hoped that the seminar can be a reference point for industrial parks in Myanmar and attract more Chinese enterprises to participate in the construction of Myanmar's industrial parks.

The 14-day seminar was held online due to COVID-19 constraints. It looked to the Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area as a case study and invited experts and scholars in related fields to introduce China's reform and opening-up practices, as well as the "one-stop" service model of Tianjin TEDA Group.
