A Lancang-Mekong charity project co-sponsored by Beijing MW Foundation (BMWF) and China International Communications Group (CICG) was launched Dec. 3, 2021, in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand.

During the launch event, an unveiling ceremony for the "Lancang-Mekong Book House" was also held at Kong Lee Chong Son School.

Chen Shi, deputy editor-in-chief of CICG, said in her speech that the charity project prioritizes education exchanges, and focuses on helping primary and secondary schools in the region jointly build the "Lancang-Mekong Book House" to inspire hope and brighten the future of more children in need.

Chang Yumeng, cultural counselor for the Chinese Embassy in Thailand, said in his speech that the project has brought tangible benefits to local residents, effectively promoting friendship between the two peoples.

A former vice president of the Supreme Court of Thailand who once studied at the Kong Lee Chong Son School said that the project serves as a bond for mutual learning among civilizations and that it opens a window for local children to better understand China.

The Lancang-Mekong charity project provided students at Kong Lee Chong Son School with nearly 1,000 books suitable for Chinese teaching in kindergartens and elementary schools, as well as for extracurricular reading. In addition, it also provided anti-pandemic supplies and daily necessities to the school.
