Alliance calls for better tourism cooperation

The Lancang-Mekong Tourist Cities Cooperation Alliance Conference (LMTC) and Lancang-Mekong Mayor Forum on Culture and Tourism were held in Chongqing on Oct. 21.

A total of 28 representatives from alliance member cities were invited to share their views regarding tourism initiatives both online and offline, promoting the high-quality development of cultural tourism in the Lancang-Mekong region.  

"Upholding its open and inclusive spirit, the LMC should adhere to equality and mutual benefits," said Du Jiang, China’s vice minister of Culture and Tourism, at the conference, adding that a community of shared future among Lancang-Mekong countries can be achieved by deepening the friendship and cooperation. 

During the conference, the Work Plan on LMTC and its Five-Year Plan of Action were approved. Likewise, Chongqing Initiative on LMTC was also released during the conference, calling on all relevant parties to join hands in building a new practical operation mechanism of extensive consultation and shared benefits.

The forum also featured a series of trading and cultural activities for the Lancang-Mekong countries, such as youth cultural performances, exhibitions featuring intangible cultural heritage and small commodities fairs.
