Training workshop held for agricultural industry of Lancang-Mekong countries

The Lancang-Mekong Training Workshop on Agri-product Quality and Safety Inspection and Testing was held from Aug. 24-27. 

Hosted by China's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the online training workshop attracted nearly 200 participants from China, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Representatives from Malaysia, Indonesia, Bangladesh, and Singapore, as well as some international organizations, including GIZ, GS1 and the Mekong Institute, also attended the event.

During the training workshop, experts from relevant departments in China and the Asian Development Bank introduced developments in China's agricultural product quality control and food safety inspections, Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) certification and cross-border fruit traceability system, agricultural product risk monitoring, China's requirements for the quality and safety of imported food, and China's agricultural products and food safety inspection and supervision mechanisms.

Trainees also had the opportunity to pay a virtual visit to some of the country's agricultural product inspection and testing research institutions and enterprises. Industry representatives from the Lancang-Mekong countries also discussed the quality and safety management of their region's agricultural products.
