China donates latest Huawei terminals to Thailand

The Chargé d' affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Thailand Yang Xin, director of the Political Section of the embassy Ge Tang, together with the CEO of Huawei Technologies Thailand Abel Deng, donated 23 of the latest Huawei video conference terminals to Thai Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn on May 7, 2021.

According to Yang, the donated Huawei video conference terminals will be used to help students in remote mountainous areas and for public medical treatment in Thailand through Princess Sirindhorn's Projects in Thailand, with a hope that they could help with poverty alleviation.

Yang said that China and Thailand have a good record of poverty alleviation cooperation. He said that China has long been active in supporting Thailand's poverty alleviation efforts in fields such as education and medical services.

Yang mentioned that the pandemic is still wreaking havoc around the world, and Thailand has also recently experienced a new round of infections. To help the Thai people fight the epidemic, China has so far sent 3.5 million doses of coronavirus vaccines to Thailand. He said that China is willing to work with Thailand to support its COVID-19 response and economic and social recovery.

Thai Princess Sirindhorn thanked China for its help and support for education, medical and health services in remote mountainous areas of Thailand, and expressed willingness to further strengthen cooperation with China in the fields of distance education, medical treatment, and science and technology.

She praised the timeliness, safety and effectiveness of the vaccines provided by China, and expressed her wish that the two countries would fight the pandemic together to tide over the trying time through solidarity and cooperation.
