A photo exhibition featuring historical moments and landscapes of China and Vietnam opened on April 18 in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. On the day of the opening, nearly 400 Vietnamese students visited the exhibition to learn about Chinese culture.

The photo exhibition displayed more than 30 precious photos, vividly showcasing the history of friendship between China and Vietnam, as well as the magnificent scenery of the two countries. Along with the exhibition, a feature documentary introducing the Memorial Hall of Vietnam School in Guangxi Normal University in China was also broadcasted at the scene. A variety of Chinese cultural experiencing activities were also held.

Dinh Thi Thanh Nga, head of the department of Chinese language at Hanoi University, said in her opening speech at the ceremony that no matter how the world changes, the great significance of the good-neighborly friendship between Vietnam and China will never change. She believed that the two countries have huge potential to carry out exchanges and cooperation in various fields. She hoped the photo exhibition could help both sides deepen mutual understanding, so that the friendship between Vietnam and China can be passed on from generation to generation.

Luo Jun, a principal of the Confucius Institute at Hanoi University, said that young people are the future of the country and also the guardians and creators of world peace. He hoped that the photo exhibition would help young people to better understand the traditional friendship between China and Vietnam, as well as contemporary China, thus further consolidating the traditional friendship between the two countries.

Peng Shituan, cultural counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam, said that through the photo exhibition, young people in Vietnam can learn more about the history of friendship between the two countries. He expressed his hope that the youths of the two countries would inherit and carry forward the tradition and contribute to the promotion of each country's development.

The photo exhibition is one of a series of activities held under the "Tale of Two Cities"—Lancang-Mekong youth cultural exchange event, and is organized by the Confucius Institute at Hanoi University.
