On Feb. 27, the Lancang-Mekong Countries Joint Working Group on Water Resources convened its first meeting in Beijing.

In March, Laos established the LMC Laos Secretariat.

On March 8, the official WeChat account of the LMC China Secretariat was put into service.

On March 10, Chinese Foreign Ministry held a launch ceremony of the LMC China Secretariat in Beijing. In his address at the ceremony, Foreign Minister Wang Yi promoted the official WeChat account of the secretariat.

On March 23, the website of Chinese Foreign Ministry and the newspaper CANKAO XIAOXI published a signed article by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi entitled "Promote Lancang-Mekong Cooperation and Build Lancang-Mekong Community of Shared Future" to commemorate the first anniversary of Lancang-Mekong Cooperation mechanism.

On March 31, a symposium commemorating the first anniversary of Lancang-Mekong Cooperation was held in Yunnan University.

On May 2, Thailand announced the establishment of an interim national secretariat for Lancang-Mekong Cooperation.

On May 7, Myanmar announced the establishment of a national coordinating institution for Lancang-Mekong Cooperation.

From May 22 to 29, the 2017 Lancang-Mekong College Students' Goodwill Games & Kunming Sports and Culture Week for Southern and Southeastern Asian College Students was held in Kunming, the capital of southwest China's Yunnan province. More than 800 students of 23 teams from five countries along the Mekong River, India, Indonesia, Singapore, Bangladesh and China took part in the event.

On May 29, Vietnam announced the designation of the Economic Affairs Department of its Ministry of Foreign Affairs as the coordinating institution for Lancang-Mekong Cooperation.

On June 8, the Lancang-Mekong Water Resources Cooperation Center was established.

On June 12, the opening ceremony of the 2017 Lanang-Mekong Cooperation Series was held in Kunming, the capital of southwest China's Yunnan province. The Yunnan liaison office of the LMC China Secretariat was inaugurated during the event.

On June 13, the (second) director-level meeting of the Joint Working Group on Connectivity for Lancang-Mekong Cooperation was held in Kunming, the capital of southwest China's Yunnan province.

On June 23, Cambodia announced the establishment of its national secretariat for Lancang-Mekong Cooperation.

On July 13, the Economic and Technological Exhibition for Lancang-Mekong Cooperation (LMC) opened in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

On July 26, the Joint Working Group on Cross-border Economic Cooperation convened its first meeting in Kunming, the capital of southwest China's Yunnan province.

On July 26, the second meeting of the Joint Working Group on Poverty Reduction was held in Siem Reap, Cambodia.

On July 29, the first Lancang-Mekong Youth Training Camp for Innovation and Entrepreneurship was launched in Xining, the capital of China's Qinghai province.

On Sept. 11, the Joint Working Group on Agriculture convened its first meeting in Nanning, south China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, marking the official establishment of the joint working group. By then, the joint working groups in six priority areas identified at the first Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Leaders' Meeting had all been established and put into operation.

On Sept. 14, the second meeting of the Joint Working Group on Production Capacity Cooperation was held in Nanning, south China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.

On Sept. 24, the Lancang-Mekong Cultural Cooperation Forum was held in Ningbo, east China's Zhejiang province. 

In mid-to-late September, the launch ceremonies of the Global Center for Mekong Studies (China Center) and the Global Center for Mekong Studies were respectively held in Beijing, capital of China, and Phnom Penh, capital of Cambodia. 

On Sept. 29, the Sixth LMC Diplomatic Joint Working Group Meeting was held in Dali, southwest China's Yunnan province.
