An online photo exhibition featuring historic and cultural cities of Lancang-Mekong countries was launched Dec. 28, 2020.

Lin Songtian, president of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), wrote a preface for the exhibition. CPAFFC Vice President Li Xikui, as well as Zaw Myint Maung, chief minister of Myanmar's Mandalay region, Prajon Pratsakul, governor of Thailand's Chiang Rai province, and Va Than, governor of Cambodia's Kratie province, sent pre-recorded congratulatory messages on the opening of the exhibition.

Like a natural thread, the Lancang-Mekong River covers thousands of miles, connecting China, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam, and Thailand.

Organized by the CPAFFC, the exhibition features more than 200 photos from 10 historically and culturally significant provinces and cities across the six Lancang-Mekong countries. With four themes – Natural Scenery, Cityscape, Cultures and Customs, and Friendly Exchanges – the exhibition showcases the six countries' rich history of cultural exchange and shared prosperity. Likewise, it highlights an aspiration held by people in the region for strength-ening bonds, fostering the Lancang-Mekong Economic Development Belt and working towards a shared future for all the Lancang-Mekong countries.

For instance, as a participating player in the promotion of the Lancang-Mekong cooperation, China's Yunnan province has been given the opportunity to fully realize its geographical, human and cultural advantages.

Coordinated by the Yunnan People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, the online exhibition's organizers included Yunnan's Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture, Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture, and Lijiang city, all of whom worked together to showcase the unique charm of Yunnan's breathtaking natural scenery and diverse cultural customs through vivid photos and videos.
