Multi-country, multi-park event held to boost Lancang-Mekong cooperation

The Lancang-Mekong "Multi-Nation and Multi-Park" Cooperation Conference and Online Investment Promotion Event was held Dec. 28, 2020, as part of efforts to implement the consensus reached during the third Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Leaders' Meeting.

Hosted by the International Cooperation Center of China's National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), the event took place both online and offline in Beijing, with the five Mekong countries participating via video links.

More than 100 representatives from relevant government departments, the joint working group on production capacity cooperation, key parks, financial institutions and enterprises of Lancang-Mekong countries discussed optimizing the layout for production capacity cooperation, covering topics such as cooperation models and a path towards cooperation, as well as related policy support, financial support and guarantee measures.

Zheng Chiping, deputy director of the Department of Foreign Capital and Overseas Investment of the NDRC, said that NDRC has worked closely with relevant departments of the five Mekong countries to formulate a three-year action plan detailing production capacity cooperation. He said that NDRC is willing to strengthen communication and coordination with its counterparts to produce pragmatic results.

The heads of the leading departments of the five Mekong countries gave an overview of their countries' recent achievements in promoting capacity cooperation and looked forward to the development potential and future prospects of "Multi-Nation and Multi-Park" cooperation. They also offered suggestions for accelerating the implementation of the "Multi-Nation and Multi-Park" project.

Representatives from 16 industrial parks and economic zones, including Wuqing Economic Development Zone in Tianjin and Xi'an High-tech Zone, attended an online investment promotion event held in the afternoon the same day. More than 80 companies also participated in the online event.
