The Lancang-Mekong Water Resources Cooperation Center holds video conference with UNICEF

In early November, the Lancang-Mekong Water Resources Cooperation Center and UNICEF held a video conference, with a view to exchange ideas on improving water resources cooperation affected by climate change and realize UN Sustainable Development Goals in the Lancang-Mekong Region.

Mr. Evariste Kouassi-Komlan, Regional Adviser for the UNICEF“Water, Sanitation and Hygiene” project, expounded the objectives of the WASH project, the strategic framework for 2016-2030, the working methods, project experience, partnerships as well as its funding and manpower.

Zhong Yong, Secretary-General of the Lancang-Mekong Water Resources Cooperation Center, introduced the development of water resources cooperation and their efforts to improve drinking water in rural areas. As part of the cooperation, the team is expected to design project plans and organize exchanges and seminars on the basis of making full use of the existing research and work.

Participants reached a consensus about the fact that UNICEF and the Lancang-Mekong Water Resources Cooperation Centre have huge potential in promoting cooperation on water resources and sanitation in the Lancang-Mekong region. This cooperation will bring limitless potential and a promising future to everyone it benefits.
