Myanmar's Ministry of Transport and Communications Monday announced the extension of suspension period of international commercial air services until the end of November.

After COVID-19 was first detected in the country on March 23, the government suspended the operation of international commercial air services since the end of March so as to prevent the importation of the disease through air travel.

Due to the suspension of international commercial flights during the pandemic, the government has been repatriating its citizens stranded in foreign countries by relief flights or special flights.

Myanmar has reported 44,774 COVID-19 confirmed cases with 1,095 deaths as of Sunday, according to latest figures released by the Health and Sports Ministry.
