Vietnam's retail sales, service revenue up 0.7 pct in 9 months

Vietnam's total goods retail sales and consumer service revenues increased 0.7 percent year on year between January and September to more than 3,673.5 trillion Vietnamese dong (159.7 billion U.S. dollars), according to the country's General Statistics Office on Friday.

Specifically, Vietnam's goods retail sales stood at over 2,907.1 trillion Vietnamese dong (126.4 billion U.S. dollars), up 4.8 percent, with sales of home food and foodstuffs growing 8.8 percent, appliances growing 5.8 percent, and transport declining 1.7 percent.

In the nine-month period, restaurant and accommodation revenues totaled roughly 369.3 trillion Vietnamese dong (16.1 billion U.S. dollars), down 15 percent, and tourism revenues stood at around 14.2 trillion Vietnamese dong (615.7 million U.S. dollars), down 56.3 percent, according to the office.

In 2019, Vietnam's total goods retail sales and consumer service revenues rose 11.8 percent year on year to more than 4,940 trillion Vietnamese dong (214.8 billion U.S. dollars). Specifically, its goods retail sales surged 12.7 percent to over 3,751 trillion Vietnamese dong (163.1 billion U.S. dollars).
