Wang Yi Meets with Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Prak Sokhon of Cambodia

On November 20, 2017 local time, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Prak Sokhon of Cambodia during his attendance at the Foreign Ministers' Meeting of the Asia-Europe Meeting in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar.

Wang Yi expressed that China and Cambodia share a high-level of mutual trust, profound friendship and close cooperation. China supports Cambodia's efforts in maintaining political stability and achieving economic development. It is believed that the Cambodian government is capable of leading its people in coping with challenges both at home and abroad, holding a smooth election as well as speeding up its pace in the process of national development. Next year marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Cambodia. The development of bilateral relations faces new opportunities. China is willing to further deepen strategic cooperation with Cambodia to elevate bilateral relations to new highs. The Lancang-Mekong Cooperation (LMC) is an important cooperation platform for sub-regional cooperation. It is hoped that Cambodia could work with China to jointly push this mechanism for rapid development.

Prak Sokhon expressed that Cambodia thanks China for providing vigorous support and assistance for a long time. Cambodia is well designing the celebration activities for the 60th anniversary of the establishment of Cambodia-China diplomatic relations and is willing to take this as an opportunity to further deepen the friendship and cooperation between the two countries. Cambodia sincerely invites China's leaders to the Second LMC Leaders' Meeting which will be held at the beginning of 2018 in Cambodia.
