Li Keqiang Meets with Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith of Laos

On the evening of January 10, 2018 local time, Premier Li Keqiang met with Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith of Laos in Phnom Penh.

Li Keqiang expressed that China-Laos relations have adhered to the "four-good" spirit and enjoyed smooth and forward-looking development. General Secretary and President Xi Jinping successfully visited Laos, injecting new impetus into China-Laos comprehensive strategic partnership. Centering on the Belt and Road Initiative and the construction of the China-Laos Economic Corridor, both sides should speed up the alignment of development strategies, ensure continuous and smooth advancement of the construction of the China-Laos railway and enhance connectivity. China and Laos should maintain sound coordination within regional cooperation mechanisms including the Lancang-Mekong cooperation (LMC) and cooperation between China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations in a bid to better benefit the two countries and people in the region. China welcomes the Lao side to attend the first China International Import Expo to promote the high-quality products of Laos to Chinese consumers.

Thongloun Sisoulith expressed that Laos thanks China for its long-term support and assistance to economic and social development of the country. At present, Laos-China cooperation achieves fruitful outcomes, and the construction of the Laos-China railway goes smoothly. The Lao side stands ready to implement cooperation consensus between both countries and accelerate the promotion of practical cooperation across all fields. As the new co-chair of the LMC mechanism, Laos is willing to make joint efforts with China to actively promote the development of the LMC.
