Myanmar's parliament approves signing BIMSTEC convention

Myanmar's parliament approved a motion of Myanmar's participation in signing BIMSTEC convention in capital Nay Pyi Taw on Wednesday.

The proposal sent by President U Win Myint to the parliament was discussed at Wednesday's parliamentary session.

Established in 1997, BIMSTEC, the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation, groups Bangladesh, India, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Nepal and Bhutan.

BIMSTEC is an organization which can bring common benefits to member countries under collective cooperation, Union Minister U Kyaw Tin for International Cooperation told the parliamentary session.
