The China-Laos railway is a docking project between Belt and Road Initiative and Laos' strategy of "transforming landlocked countries into landlocked countries", it stretches for 414 kilometers from the Laos-China border port of Boten in the north to Vientiane, the capital of Laos, in the south. The railway is built entirely using Chinese management standards and technical standards, with a design speed of 160 km/h, for electrified passenger and freight rail. The project will be fully started in December 2016 and is scheduled to open to traffic in December 2021.
