Lancang-Mekong youth cultural extravaganza was held in Nanning on the night of Dec. 31, 2019, attracting tens of thousands of Chinese and Foreign tourists to enjoy the New Year’s Eve celebration.

In 2009, Lancang-Mekong youth cultural exchange activities were carried out in 10 cities of the six Lancang-Mekong Cooperation (LMC) countries with 10 different themes, which were all responded positively by youths from the different countries. As this activity was also held in conjunction with the New Year’s Eve party, it was conducted at Fantawild Asian Legend, a park displaying the scenery of ten Southeast Asian countries, in hopes of integrating the audience with the China–ASEAN cultural elements.

Just as the clock was about to strike 12, hundreds of unmanned drones were launched into sky, starting the countdown starry sky performance. In the meantime, the party reached a climax as Nanning’s sky lit up alongside the cheers from the audiences at the scene.

This New Year’s Eve party is also known to be part of the “Our Chinese Dreams” series activities, promoted by two TV channels in Guangxi with the aims to improve the quality of public cultural services.
