A meeting as part of Chengdu Foreign Economic and Trade Cooperation and Investment Promotion (Thailand) was held on Dec. 20, 2019 in Bangkok to promote the economic and trade cooperation and investment communication between Thailand and Jinniu District, Chengdu, Sichuan province, China. Themed “Chengdu and Thailand joint collaboration to promote economic prosperity”, the conference aimed to enhance the economic and trade cooperation between the two sides. More than 60 enterprises from China and Thailand attended the conference.

Yu Jian, Deputy Director of the Jinniu District government, expressed that Jinniu, one of the five districts in Chengdu, was at the economic strategy center of China’s important commodity production. Owning more than half of Chengdu’s market shares, Jinniu District has become the best-developed economic zone in western China, which has high economic potential for supporting external trade and investment. Jinniu District, only 20 kilometers away from Chengdu International Airport, has convenient logistics and transportation system. It is also a traveling center and a leader of modern technology in the medical health fields. It carries out important projects such as Yisha Chengdu International Trade City and Gingko Square, creating conditions for developing electronic and artificial intelligence facilities as well as opportunities for Thai investors.

Yisha International Trade City in Jinniu District is seen as a large exhibition center, which has attracted more than 38 thousand people for investment and business. The number of visitors reach 80 thousand to 100 thousand per day. In the first stage, there were 7 exhibition areas that showcased 400 thousand commodities from more than 20 categories, bringing in annual income of 60 billion RMB. The products included clothing, fashion, IT, electronics, home decorations as well as Chinese herbs and rare medicinal materials. It is known for being China’s largest herb market.

Besides, Chengdu International Trade City also established specialized exhibition centers for countries including Spain, Russia, Sri Lanka, Japan, etc. The Thailand exhibition center is recently being constructed to support Thai merchants and investors and will be used to display Thai agricultural products popular in Chengdu. Therefore, Yu would like to invite foreign investors and merchants to invest in Jinniu District. He also assured that one-stop services and VIP level treatments in revenue, tax and permits, convenient assistance as well as e-commerce knowledge will be provided to Thai investors and merchants. Chinese-Thai translators will be available to facilitate communications.

Yu hopes that this event will increase Thai investors’ understandings of Jinniu District and provide new paths for further economic cooperation between China and Thailand.
