On the afternoon of January 10, 2018 local time, Premier Li Keqiang, together with Prime Minister Hun Sen of Cambodia, Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith of Laos, Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha of Thailand, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc of Vietnam, Vice President U Myint Swe of Myanmar, visited the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation (LMC) exhibition.
Phnom Penh enjoys warm wind and green palms in January. The exhibition held at the square of the Peace Palace intensively showcases the outcomes of cooperation in various fields over the past two years since the launch of the LMC.
At the exhibition stand of China's high-speed train, Li Keqiang and the leaders of these countries listened to the introduction, sat in a cockpit simulator of the Fuxing high-speed train, and experienced the equipment configuration and driving operation situation of China's high-speed train in person. Li Keqiang expressed that infrastructure connectivity is one of the priorities of the LMC. Currently, the construction of the China-Laos railway and China-Thailand railway has started successively, becoming the flagship projects in production capacity cooperation between the two countries and China. Now, the high-speed rail has become a "golden name card" of China's equipment manufacturing. China stands ready to give play to its advantages in technologies and experience, dock the development demands of regional countries, promote and elevate the level of infrastructure and connectivity in this region, and usher the economic development and improvement of people's livelihood in these countries into the "age of high-speed rail". There was rapturous applause on the spot.
The leaders came to the exhibition stand of grid projects, visited the sand table of connectivity of power system for cooperation between China and Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos and other countries, and had video interaction.
In front of the sand table of Sihanoukville Port Special Economic Zone, the leaders of the five countries stopped to watch and carefully listen to introduction of development situation of the Zone. Li Keqiang focused on learning about the employment situation for the local area created by this project. While learning that the project has achieved both economic and social benefits, Li Keqiang expressed that China stands ready to make joint efforts with the Cambodian side to continue doing a good job in the second phase of its construction, in a bid to let this model project of China-Cambodia cooperation truly become the project enriching the people and blessing the people.
In the exhibition hall, several orange bikes attracted people's attention. Those bikes belong to a Chinese bike-sharing company, Mobike Technology Co., Ltd., which has entered the Thai market to launch its smart bikes in November 2017. The leaders watched a real-time monitoring video of the smart bikes' distribution and occupation during rush hours in Thailand, and they also experienced with interest the remote unlocking process. The leaders highly praised the new economic momentum which is from China, generates radiating effect to the surrounding areas and steps towards the world. Bike-sharing not only helps local people better overcome travel difficulties, but also meets their needs for non-pollution, zero-emission, green and low-carbon means of transportation.
Affirming the utilization of the travel mode featuring Internet plus green transportation, Li Keqiang believes that it is conducive for various countries to creating new economy and new types of business. He expressed China's willingness to work with various countries and share more benefits from innovation and entrepreneurship, so as to make sharing economy and green economy benefit more people.
The leaders also visited exhibition stands of agriculture, construction materials, biotechnology and mobile communication. Li Keqiang stressed that innovation is the inexhaustible driving force for the LMC. We should conform to the trend of the times, tap cooperation space, jointly discuss future plan, and make new achievements that benefit the public constantly emerge from the LMC, so as to inject everlasting and new impetus into regional development and prosperity.
