A Brief Introduction of Lancang-Mekong Cooperation China Secretariat

On March 10th, 2017, the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation China Secretariat (LMC China Secretariat) was launched in Beijing, which works as a coordinating organ for China’s participation in LMC. The LMC China Secretariat is subordinated to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and mainly undertakes four responsibilities – planning, coordinating, implementing and publicity, namely to plan the mechanism construction and practical cooperation, to coordinate and liaison with relevant departments and local governments to advance cooperation with Mekong River countries, to approve and manage the LMC special fund and promote the implementation of projects; to manage the publicity to expand the influence of the mechanism. LMC China Secretariat has been playing an active part since the establishment, promoting and participating in many activities and projects under the LMC framework.

On June 12th, 2017, the Yunnan Liaison Office of LMC China Secretariat was established in Yunnan, subordinated to the Provincial Foreign Affairs Office. The Liaison Office is the first local coordinating office of the six LMC countries, and it works as a coordinating organ for Yunnan Province to participate in LMC.

LMC China Secretariat has created an official WeChat public account with the ID of "澜沧江—湄公河合作中国秘书处"(LMC China Secretariat).
