In a move to boost domestic spending amid a lacklustre economy, Thailand's Ministry of Commerce on Thursday rolled out its seventh and the year's final economic campaign, by offering shoppers up to 70 percent in goods purchases.

"The ministry's final discount scheme of the year will cover more than 13,000 product items nationwide in November," said Commerce Minister Jurin Laksanawisit, adding that offering discounts to household will help lower costs of living as well as to boost local spending.

"This is the ministry's seventh campaign since the COVID-19 outbreak and it is the year's last," said Jurin. "The ministry has partnered with local department stores and suppliers and they all agreed to offer discounts as high as 70 percent."

The minister said discount campaigns are necessary under the current economic status ravaged by the pandemic.
